4R70W swap

Hi does anyone know if a 4R70W tranny out of a 2002 F150 4.6 V8 will fit and work in a 97 4.6 V8 with the same type tranny ?

It will fit mechanically but the electronic plug in on the tranny would have to be changed. If you are looking for the easy swap go with a 97-98.
Do a search here for more info, its been talked about a few times.

You can swap the internal harness but you have to take out the valve body to do it. You also need to swap the 3 solenoids because the connectors are diferent.

Or, you can also easily repin the harness on the truck to work with the new transmission. I have the diagrams if you decide to go that route.

Thanks Darren, It sounds like it might be easier to re-pin the truck harness... I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't mind sharing those diagrams you mentioned.
thanks
