1999 F150 truck crewcab --- made a rattle noise a while back but quit and now it quit pulling but I have reverse. Changed the fluid and it had metal in it. It worked for 1 day after changing the fluid and now its not pulling forward at all. Any idea what's going on or what to check for? Fluid was brown in color.

 

Its an automatic tranmission --- sorry I forgot to mention that.

 

usually brown fluid is burnt,but your saying you changed fluid and it worked??mines doin same thing,maybe thats whats wrong with mine as well,my fluid is still red,so i guess it cant hurt,did you do complete drain or just drop pan and filter?mine says mercon,but other things im readin is saying merconV .last time i had burnt fluids in a tranny,was my chevy years ago and it wouldnt move at all

 

Dropped the pan and changed the filter. Worked for one day then back to the same old problem --- won't go forward at all. But it goes backwards fine.
