MLPS (TR sensor) problems...help!

Hi guys,
I am beating my head against a brick wall. My truck gets going thru Multi lever position sensors, or it's called a Transmission Range sensor or Neutral Safety switch.

I've been blowing 1 a year. Last week I put a new one in and it blew the same day. I have been buying Ford parts. I install it correctly, I have checked the harness for wire breaks etc. NOTHING!! It's not throwing out any codes either.

As of now, my truck is DOA. Can anyone offer some insight?
Christine

Is the vehicle voltage high or something?
Could be a problem in your reverse lights, check the sockets for corrosion. Tailight problems have caused alot more problems than you can imagine and that switch controls the reverse lights.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I do have driving lights hooked up, which I use as reverse lights, and a reverse horn hooked up to my reverse lights. I'll check my wiring. I think I'll have to wire in a relay. It's just strange the last sensor only lasted a day.
Thanks for the lead. I will definitely check that out.

That's a lot more current running through the TRS than it was designed to handle. I'll bet that's why they are failing. Moving all of the loads off the sensor and onto relays will probably solve your problem.
