whish i got to it today but what ever will definatly do it tomorrow, maybe even pickup another quart or two of trans fluid
Those factory gaskets are lifetime gaskets - Big $$$ for those and there worthevery penny. I wouldn't trust any gasket down there other than a factory gasket.

I also heard you can take that gasket in the dealership and get a new one free if there isn't any obviouse damage from abuse. - That's "hear say" I never tried it. I still use my stock gasket - have been for 245,000 miles. If you do use another gasket anyway - Pay special attention to it's thickness. If thicker - don't use it. You'll strip a few a pan bolt before alls said and done.

I would have 15 quarts on hand for 4r70w if your flushing / 20 quarts for the E4OD/4R100. You'll use every bit of that for a good flushing

J, have you ever seen any sign of fluid at all around the pan using the stock gasket? Only reason I use the replacement is because I have seen a few other peoples pans that was wet around there with their stock gasket, of course that could very well have been because the bolts weren't tight enough or something else. But the few times me and my friends have used the replacement they never seem to leak, so I have just stuck with what works. Maybe I'll start using the stock gasket myself just to see if it leaks on me.

Hey when you say flushing, what do you mean? Was it you who told me you shouldn't flush an E4OD cause the trans could be contaminated?

The drain plugs disappeared shortly after the start of the 2002 model year. All 2001s should have a drain plug in the torque converter.

Yes and No - I'm not writing all that out for you again - I know I gave youa step by step on the cooler / mannn, idon't feel like writing all that out again. Also gave yuh the info on factory in-line filter kit. - Coolers are relatively cheap. Summit use to have them for around $50. I won't clean them anymore on a high mileage trans - New ones are cheap / old ones are broke down inside / doesn't matter how clean you get it..New are also bigger/better, most of all /safer way to go for the trans.

Oh you meant flushing just the cooler and its lines out. I figured when you say "flush" most people assume you are referring to flushing the entire system with new fluid until the old comes out.
