Yes, you only need to check the 1-2 accumulator. That's the only one that has anything to do with the 1-2 shift.

Thanks for the quick responses, sorry its taken so long for me to get back. I am a mechanic but work with more GM stuff. I'll check the spring, but does anyone have a picture of where in the valve body it is? Thanks again everyone and have a great holiday weekend!

You don't have to remove the valve body to get to the 1-2 accumulator. If I remember correctly, it's towards the front of the trans, visible when you remove the pan. I think it's the only thing you can see that's held in by a large (approx 1.5''-2'') snap ring. I have a repair manual on CD which shows it, but I'm a total computer idiot, and I'm not sure how to get the picture from the CD to this forum. Maybe someone else can post a picture or walk me through how to post the picture.

If it's a picture file upload it to something like photobucket or your gallery here. Then get the image address (Right click on the picture and go to properties) and post it like this

Problem solved Thanks to you all, found that my 1-2 accumulator was broken in 3 spots.... got all the parts from the list and now truck is back to normal. Doesn't feel as lazy anymore and the shifts are soft on light throttle and has a nice firm shift at WOT. Thanks again, here's a pict of the damage:

Actually, that's the accumulator spring, not the accumulator itself.

Good repair!
