Transmission fluid metering valve?
2007 F150,4.2V6,4R75E transmission
Today I was looking at the underneath of my truck and noticed a block valve,5/8" thick,3" high,2.5" wide, near the center of the oil pan, with the transmission lines entering it and leaving it.WTH is this?

It is the thermostatic transmission cooler bypass valve. It is there to route fluid back to the transmission instead of the cooler when the fluid is cold.
Once the fluid warms up enough, it then routes the fluid to the cooler for cooling.
Those are some entertaining answers......
There was a discussion of this valve about two weeks ago in this forum. It's probably down a couple of pages by now.
