5.4 Tranny slip
5.4 Tranny slip
I recently switched from Chevy to Ford and so far so good, but I have noticed that the Tranny seems slips alittle in lower gears when I let off the gas and reapply. Its like that engine is trying to catch back up to the tranny speed. Is this normal to the Ford transmission?

What year is it and how many miles does it have on it?
Troyer offers a sweet valve body kit that will firm up the shifts very nicely and get rid of most of the sloppiness by the way.

Mine slips also...............
I also have a 2001 5.4l super cab. It seems like the engine is catching up ...
RPM jumps up just after accelerating lightly from a stop like it is catching up with the transmission, then catches and shifts. It seems like it is worse when it is cold. Good solid shifts after the initial slipping. Never does it in reverse.
Is this what you have going on? If so, what did you find out?
Thanks

I think what you are feeling is the torque converter in an unlocked state to be honest. I don't think it's a problem. I suggested the valve body kit only to offer a solution to get rid of some of the sloppiness in the transmission.

Probibly just getting used to ford transmission over a chevy. I do love the way stock chevy trannys shift. I do agree with Darrin on the valve body, I have troyers tunes which do the same thing I think and it firms the shifts up alot.
