HELP yellow part in transmission. dont know where it goes?

I'm changing my transmission filter and fluid. When I dropped the pan I had this yellow plunger looking thing in it and I have know idea where it goes?
It kinda looks like a lolly pop. 1.5" long with an O-ring around it.

2005 5.4L FX4. If anyone knows where this goes please let me know.

It now goes in the trash, it was to keep trash out of the trans during assembly of truck, they shove the dipstick into the trans after the body was put on and the plug falls into the pan.

Yup, nothing to worry about. Just the way Ford decided to assemble the tranny.

Talking

You must now take the part to your local Ford dealer to reveal the secret code on the stem! They have a "Little Orphan Annie" secret decoding ring which will tell you the prize you have won!

WILL SOMEONE MAKE THIS QUESTION A STICKY,PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I thought it was added
so the dealer can void the trans warrantee if the mileage
is above recommended and the yellow thingy falls out
when the pan is removed.

Nope - if you use a machine to do a fluid exchange, the pan will not be dropped. Ford has been assembling trannys like this for over 30 years.

I guess that can be true.
However, A $129 Ford transmission service
drops the pan
changes the filter,
And add 6 quarts Valvoline Max life.

Some dealers may still do pan drops, but more and more are switching over to a machine exchange.

I overheard my service writer asking a man,who wanted his transmission serviced, if he wanted the pan drop change or the flush;both were $179.95,each!

If you always buy the machine exchange, how do they get the old, dirty magnet out and the clean, new magnet in :/

Always drop the pan, some get a yellow lolypop, others get a dirty magnet.

Ford has been assembling trannys like this for over 30 years.
And this question is asked on this forum at least once every 3 days.

Use it as a butt-plug if you trade in your truck for a Ridgeline Honda.
