Grinding or Vibration sound from 4-3

I have noticed a slight grinding noise and/or vibration when my truck downshift from 4th to 3rd. I have a 2004 F150 Scab with 5.4, auto, 4 wheel drive. The dealer cannot replicate the noice or sound. Any help would be great.

Does it do only when hot? If so, change the fluid, completely, and the filter. I don't do the flush deal.

tranny fluid

I have not changed the trans fluid yet. I bought the truck new with 25 miles on it. I thought I needed to change it with the 100k tune-up. thanks for the help. I am going to change it this weekend and post if it made any difference.
Thanks again !

How would you change the fluid completely without the flush deal? There is no drain plug in the torque converter, so how else can you get the fluid out of it?

To completely change the fluid use this:

Slight Hum/Moan when shifting from Drive to Reverse

Hello all this is my very first time asking for help here in this forum. I have a 2007 Ford F150 XLT SuperCrew 5.4L Flex Fuel Engine with a 3.73 Limited Slip Differential.

Here is one of two problems I am experiencing:

1. When I drive for any amount of time when I shift to reverse I begin to back up slowly I hear a Hum/Moan once the transmission engages to reverse and I begin to move backward, the sound lasts for about a second or two.

2. I am now noticing after start up "cold" I shift to Drive and it seems like the engine revs slightly high and then the transmission finally decides to engage and move me forward.

I will be bringing my Truck to the Dealer for a thorough inspection but has anyone here ever encountered this type of problem?

My truck only has 8500 miles on it and I drive that truck purely in the city it has never seen dirt trails etc.

Any help will assist me in tracking down and isolating this issue.

Thanks again to all!

I had the fluids completely drained and refilled to specs. So far it seems to have solved the grinding/ vibration. I am going on small road trip so we see how it does. Thanks for the help.
