Valvoline MaxLife ATF - true MERCON V?

Can anyone tell me whether Valvoline's MaxLife ATF w/Stop Leak is rated for MERCON-V requirements?? I just had a fluid exchange done at my local Valvoline Instant Oil Change center and the guy at the desk assured me I shouldn't have any problems. I know that Valvoline has a MERCON-V ATF specific blend (in the blue bottle) but they didn't carry that item here.

Specs:

2005 Mazda 6
2.3 liter, 4-cyl engine.
owner's manual calls for MERCON V (MV) ATF specifically.

I don't know about the Stop-Leak version, but I read the back label of the red Valvoline Max-Life ATF bottle (with the photo of a 75,000 mile odometer on the front) recently at Wal-Mart. It DEFINITELY said it meets the requirements of Mercon V on the back label.

No, according to http://www.valvoline.com/products/Maxlife%20ATF.pdf

According to Valvoline's own product specification, that product is a Mercon/Dexron III product, not a Mercon V-rated one.

Take it back.

The bottle's label clearly states "Mercon V", while the pdf above just says that it meets the latest Mercon specs (which I guess is at least V.) Here's the bottle's label:

NOW, I will say that I used this fluid in my transmission yesterday when I changed it out, and am now having problems. I haven't attributed it to the fluid yet, but who knows?

EDIT: I think I've narrowed my problem down to a defective filter. The Ford dealership says that this Valvoline ATF is fine.

Its as suitable as any other universal or multi-vehicle ATF. Many quickie lube joints carry these one-size-fits-all ATFs to keep inventory down. Pennzoil, Mobil, Castrol--all the major brands carry a multi-vehicle ATF that can be used at lube joints that feature their products. Independent places may even stock Amsoil's Universal ATF for customers who ask for it by name and are willing to pay more. Bottom line is I wouldn't worry at all. That's good fluid that will easily run the next 30K-60K depending on your change out preference.
