Need more info on your truck. Is it a standard 150, and not a LD or 7700 package?? Odds are about 98% that you have a 70.

Read the sticky at the top of the Transmissions forum. That will tell you everything you need to know about which transmission you have.

Your choices are 4R70w or the E4OD. Sticky gives identifying info for both.

Open your driver's side door. There is a sticker with a transmission code.

You can count the bolts on the pan - 14 = 70/20 = E4OD

I think I'd much rather read the door jamb sticker than crawl under and count bolts. I operate on the "do the simple things first" theory. If the sticker is missing or unreadable, then under the truck you go.

glc That's up to you. Personally, I would trust looking at the trans itself over a damn sticker.

I would hate to have purchased a new tranny , then try to install it only to find out the jam sticker was incorrect.

Counting the bolts will confirm the jam sticker. Like I said -

14 bolts = 4r70w

20 bolts = E4OD

ridinHi Drivers Side Doorjam - Trans Code U = 4r70w / E = E40D. Ident local - circled in blue.

The trans is also tagged -
