Yay! She's home!!!

I walk in the door to the phone ringing. I pick it up, and it's the lady at the service desk letting me know my vehicle is ready. So I patiently wait 20 mins for my parents to get home and we go and head off.

We walk in and sitting on the showroom floor is a 2008 Harley-Davidson (BP $38,957) and I'm drooling over her. We walk into the service area and my dad signs some papers, writes a check (total amount was $1,307) and meanwhile, I reach around the corner of the glass, ****** the keys, and run outside. I go around the building and go down the row of finished vehicles and see my glowing white baby sitting at the end. Right off the bad she's dripping wet. I TOLD THEM SPECIFICALLY NOT TO WASH IT. They left waterspots ALL over the sindshield due to that harsh city water. I start her up, and flip her into reverse. I notice that my reverse lights are working. Nice to see those working for once! w00t! I let out the clutch (not touching the gas) and my rear wheels screech as my truck accelerates to like 8 or 9 mph in a second I was like OMG! The clutch is like grabbing 100% with like 1/8 inch of let off. So I go into first and trying not to, I spin the tires again. I pull up in front and my dad gets in and test drives her down to wal-mart. He goes inside and gets some things. Meanwhile, I plug my ScanGauge 2 back into the diag. port (which the cover was off, I'm thinking they cleared some codes recently because the engine is idling at 650 rpm...) and I flip through the Trip Meter page and you will not guess what I saw. First of all, she was at 165,004 miles when we put her in the shop. She came out at 165,008 miles. Also, before I let her get towed off, I reset the manual trip meter on the dash. I noticed when I picked her up, she had been reset again because she should've been reading 4 miles but it was at 000.0 miles. Back to where I was, I'm flipping through my Trip Meter (which is reading that current day's progress) and I see on the Hours Today page: 2.4 Hours! WTF???? 2.4 hours driving 4 miles? I continue..... MAX 81 MPH TODAY- WTF?!?!?!?!?! Again.... MAX 5130 RPM..... WTMFRIOGNAERG!~!?!??@~!?~?## I'm like sitting here...so pissed, deciding whether or not to take it back to the dealership. I'm wondering why my thing says 2.4 hours at 81 mph but my odometer only says 4 miles? The block around the dealership is so tight with traffic you're lucky if you hit 25 mph on the straightaway!

So we drive home no worrys, showing 22.5 mpg @ 65 mph. We get home and I get out and notice that with my low idle, I hear my exhaust popping. Like one of those old WW1 planes coming in for a landing. I'm extrememly displeased with this. But my dad says the plugs are probably bad, so we're going to get some new ones in a few days. Also, closer examination of their "cleaning" detail leaves me a dirty, oily rag on my passenger floor!!! And there are oild/dirt scuff marks on the lower drivers side door. I'm giving my dealership a 1 out of 10 for professionalism, but they fixed it, and I'm going to have to re-learn to drive her at the meantime, wear in the new clutch and all.

Can't wait to properly wash her!

Time to go to work....gotta pay all of this off now :santa:

BTW, also forgot to mention that she handles the power a lot better now. She acclerates like a bat out of hell and I can spin the tires so easily w/o touching the clutch.

Warranty is 12 mo/12,000 miles at ANY Ford dealership in America.

Take it back, this is not right. It shouldn't even start to engage till the pedal is at least 1/2 way up.

Sorry, I have to re-word it.

About half-way out, when the clutch just barely starts to bite, you only have to let off maybe 1/2 inch before it has full grip.

I noticed that my truck seems to accelerate smoother. I'ts like it's distributing the power to the wheels a lot better. The shifter now slides into gear now and you don't have to try and force her

Having 2.4 hours of ignition on-time is nothing to sweat. The tech probably had the key on for a while while they were working on it, and whoever detailed it probably took 45-minutes or an hour to do so, and probably listened to the radio while doing so. Whomever wiped down the interior probably ran a rag across the instrument panel, resetting the trip odometer in the process. The 4 miles and 85 mph was probably the test drive after they got the clutch back in. You mentioned that the stree the dealership is on was a low speed limit... I bet the closest 55+ mph street is a mile away. If nothing else, it's quite possible they did those speeds and engine revs with the truck still up on the hoist... There's only one way to check for solid clutch engagement, and there's only one way to check for vibrations at freeway speeds.

I don't see what you're all upset about... The first 5 miles the truck saw after it was built were easily the most abusive of its life. Furthermore, from the sounds of it, you don't exactly baby it yourself. An errant shop towel left behind is not pleasant, but it's certainly nothing to be outraged about. Keep it in a ziplock and use it for checking the oil level at gas stations.

Oh, well thats a bit of good news. I thought the ECU read the hours as actual engine time. But the "detail" you talk of which should've taken 45 minutes to and hour looks like they did it with a water hose and 5 minutes. They never touched anything inside the cab, because theres still a few dirty spots all over my dash I haven't gotten around to cleaning up. The radio being on is a possiblity because when I first started the truck my CD player opened and continued to play Finger 11's "Paralyzer" song. I specifically remember turning off my radio and closing it before I had her towed. Also, the shop towl isn't a big deal, but I'm just displeased with how they left their junk and oily boots all over the insides.

My truck spends about 99.8% of its time being babied. Maybe once or twice a month I'll WOT it and it's rare that my tires ever screech. One more thing I must point out though... I was flipping through the computer readings and it said in the last 12 hours of the truck running, it's been driven 88.3 miles? I clearly remember resetting the trip meter on my SG2 but my odometer (which is telling the truth) only reads 4 miles driven since she was delivered.

Oh well, I'm not worrying. She runs like a friggin top nowand tomorrow after work I'm going to mount my ScanGauge 2 in my dash and hard-wire my Fire and Ice's reverse lights now that my reverse switch is working again. I'm also going to wash and detail and get a new sig picture since my one pictured below dosen't show my latest visual mods!

Can't wait to get her all paid off so I can buy those new Lightning heads and LED tails

You are showing your age. The world does not revolve around you and only you.
