Shifter wont move!!!!

Shifter wont move!!!!
04' SCREW 5.4, 53k. When the truck is running, you press down the brake and try to push in the button for the shifter ( center console shifter ) it wont go in! If I sit there and keep pushing it over and over, eventualy it will shift. WTF
