Rear end vibration?

If im at dead stop and then start moving, the truck will lighty vibrate just enough to notice it, and once you start moving its gone...

It feels like its something in the rear end. The engine runs great so I am trying to fiqure out what this could be?

Any Idea's?

im also planning of changing the differental fluid very shortly.

when the differential fluid is being changed look at the spider gears that could be a cause and check the u-joints in the drive shaft.

I had a similar problem and it was the transmission clutch.
How many miles on your truck?

Im at 90K and the clutch has been changed 2 times for the same type of problem. I tow heavy on occasion and cary heavy loads when I travel.

Both times the dealer fixed the problem on the first try. I bought an extended warranty so I couldnt tell you how much it cost but I think it was around $200.

If my truck is warm, it will die when I shift into drive from park.
The motor is not throwing codes and runs fantastic. took it to Ford and they could not find any "motor" problems.
I have posted under "motor dies in drive", look it up to see everything I have done. The bottom line is that I have narrowed this issue down to the tranny. The truck accelerates and runs great. It shifts fairly well under normal driving, but at WOT or hard acceleration the shifts are not smooth by any means. The tranny has 160K on her. What prompted you to change the "transmission" clutch?

This problem sounds exactly like mine and i just got mine back from the ford garage today. it was the rear clutch plates in the differential. my truck has 54k. total cost for fix was 644.81 (257parts, 387labor). works fine now.

The dealer made the call. There was no code but there was some sort of maintenance bulleten that had just come out and it described my problem and said to replace the clutch. I didnt even know automatic transmissions had a transmission clutch at the time.
I have an extended warranty and I took it in, an hour later they called me and said what it was and they gave me a loner car over nite and next day it was ready. I think the other time it failed they fixed in less than a day.
