Rock = Disaster

2004 Ford f150 2wd

was driving on a mountain top and managed to find a rock covered in some mud and bam. Hole in the tranny pan, and cracked the tail shaft / extension housing.. broke on the passenger side of the mount.

Did some investigating... need a solenoid pack, and the housing.

Changing out the solenoid pack, can this be done by just dropping the pan?

dealer said it was a 4r70w, anyone know of a vendor that sells what Im looking for? factory spec preferable

Wait... Your info lists a 2003 Lightning. Is it the Lightning or a different truck?

The solenoids can be changed just by dropping the pan.

Nope its not for the lightning, its for a 2004 f150 5.4 3 valve. The 2 solenoids look to be together and have a little metal shield over them.. the part number I got off one of them is F8AP-76484-AB. I'll go back out in the morning and make sure I wrote it down right.

ok other dealer said 4r75, and I double checked that solenoid part number its
F8AP-7G484-AB. got a price for it from the dealer for 59.75 thats not bad. But they want 150 for the tailshaft housing, will one work from another year? and are the housing's interchangeable from say a 4r70w?

5.4s should have the 4r100, not the 4r70w.

5.4s had either 4R70W, 4R75E, or 4R100, depending on model year and whims of the Ford Motor Company.

standard was a 4r70w, only trucks with a 7700lb tow package got a 4r100.
