1997 crazy tranny problem

1997 F150 255000 miles 14 bolts on the pan. No engine codes or tranny codes but it is slipping big time in all gears at all speeds. It is not low on fluid but it is a little dirty (not burnt). No history of filter change. I was going to change the fluid, filter and anf the shift solenoid. Am I on th right track or just nuts.

Don't wast your money on oil and filters!
It's time for a rebuild.

For $20 in parts you should try. I just did not know if their was a comon problem with these units. If the oil is slug and full of metal then its time to rebuild. But thanks anyway its up and running fine with a new filter and a flush. There was next to nothing in the bottom of the pan and what they want for a rebuild is crazy.

Oh cool! Glad to here it worked out for ya.
Hopefully you'll get another 100000 Miles out of her.

My 97 82,000 has the annoying shutter.
If you do not change the fluid at reg intervals
it will happen. You must use Mercon V or
you may make it worse.
I plan on taking mine to ford for $129+ for
the Mercon V change. I hope it will
help me. It may be too late for you.

Let us know.

Its been 3 days of driving to work and If some one would tell me that a bad filter would do that I would say they are crazy. I have had clogged filters on older cars but they never acted like that.
