E4OD shift problems
I have a '93 f-100 2wd with a E4OD tranny that has progressively shown shifting issues until now she won't go. I have a manual but none of the trouble shooting info describes what it's doing.
To start with it, while coasting to a stop it would suddenly downshift HARD, stuttering to a stop. Then it would hesitate then upshift into 2nd hard. On its last trip after coasting to a stop it would act like it was in neutral (not slipping) then finally shift into gear and take off. To finish it off it when it should shift from 1st to 2nd it locks up and shudders to a stop like I slammed it into reverse. It always seemed to pull well and never showed any of the usual signs of slipping or overheating. The fluid isn't burnt. When it first started to act up I had a local tranny shop check codes and they replaced the shift position sensor but it didn't change any thing.
I believe it has a problem in the solenoid pack or valve body. Can any one give me some insight? I'm really hoping not to have to tear it all down.
