a quick question about torque converter

a quick question about torque converter

I have been reading on here about tc shudder and I think I am a victim of this as well.How do you change tc fluid I changed tranny fluid a while ago but from what I am reading that does not do the tc as well.Thanks

The torque converter and transmission share fluid, so you MUST change both at the same time. If your truck was built before August, 2001, it has a drain plug on the torque converter. You can drop the pan and remove the torque converter drain plug.

Here's how I do it. I think it changes more of the fluid and it's easier.

so does this usually take away this shudder just changing the fluid it has been doing this for some time now so I hope its not too late.Also I forgot to mentioon this earlier but when I am driving along if I let off the gas and then go back on it again it will rev up a little and then drop back it has been like this since I had the truck never got any worse fluid always clean a tech told me once to flush the tc is this the problem.BTW the truck is a 97 f150 4x4.Thanks

Changing the fluid will fix torque converter shudder unless it's been shuddering too long. Then it takes a new torque converter to fix it.

The rise and fall in engine RPM when you lift off the pedal and then get back on it is the torque converter unlocking when you lift, and a small delay in relocking when you get back on it. That's the way it was designed to work.
