Most are in gallery 3 - I have allot of pics

I had the same problem with first and second - I went just one size larger on the holes and that was to much - it hit to hard in second under normal driving.

I then made a new plate - there was only one that came in my kit.

The drill bits provided in the kit will not due - there metric. You can get it perfect by using an American sized bit that falls in between the metric sizes.

My Plate

JBrew,
Here's a scan of the plate in the Transgo directions. The holes circles in green are .063. I think hole 1A is actually larger (default). Would you recommend I increase holes 1 and 2?

I was trying to figure out why mines different ? I have the E4OD trans and you must have the 4R70w - my plates a little different . -

This is a plate I trashed - where it says 2 and 3 on mine I went to big on this one.

Regardless - make small changes , the next size up only - whether its a American # or Metric # , just go one size.

Seeing that your trans is different , I don't feel confident in advising you honestly - Sry ..

I did it the easy way. I installed a "Jet Performance Trans Shifting Controller" and after 1 week of turning the selection ****, the thing shorted out internally and smoke came out the ECU from behind the glove box. Mind you while i was pissing my pants and ripping out my glove box with one hand and fire ext in the other, i thought it was all over.

After the smoke cleared and i realized it was just a elec circuit frying, i started up the truck and everything seemed fine. Took off and the trans shifted firm like i was in Race Mode on the faulty controller. When i opened up the ECU, you can see where the little piece on the board melted the soider. No Check Light, No error codes, nothing. My truck now had a strong shift. Let alone i got my money back from JET, they gave me a free shift kit by default.

Since September 2002 i have had the greatest shift kit money can buy and not one hick-up from that trans . Whats the Odd's

Its been that way with this truck since day one. Did i mention i paid 3500.00 TOTAL for the truck in 2000 with 11K miles on it. A whole nother story BUT COMPLETELY TRUE.

Enjoy your kit brother.

Mac

What a story !! Sounds like you lucked out for sure.

I think B&M made a kit like that - I never went for it tho - I looked at em and your kit reminds of what I read and how they work(except for the shorting out part lol). I think those kits were priced cheap as well .

Idunno , that was long ago..

No problem man! I took it out this morning and it feels a bit tighter... I think I'm going to wait on drilling anything else for a bit. But one question, where would I find info on where holes 3 and 4 are located on my plate? I'm familiar with the "jmod" info... maybe I'll start there... although I've read that the jmod is for cars, not trucks. Maybe, I'll just get ahold of Troyer and ask them.

Thanks for your honesty btw... a trait hard to come by these days.

Don't jmod a truck plate before 04, after 04 you'll find it won't make a difference anyway. You must use at least a car plate to do a jmod to it. Even then the springs in the truck valvebody can be different depending on year, model,etc...

That's a pretty nice little writeup, does anyone know of a writeup like this for the E4OD? I'm going to start on my kit in the morning.

Also, what is the spherical shaped housing that the rear of the transmission goes to? It has a drain plug, at first I thought it might be the Torque Converter when I had first ordered my kit and before I started researching it. Then I found out the TC was up in front of the transmission by the engine. Still, do I drain this thing in the back?
I took the rubber cap off the bottom of the TC and could only see a metal plate there, is the drain plug underneath it or something?

Thanks

Yeah it's a 4x4. It goes from the rear of the transmission towards the back of the truck, I'll try and take a picture of it tonight when I get off work and post it up.

This thing comes from my transmission and goes to the rear axle...

I don't drain it when I'm doing the transmission fluid do I?

And here is the rear of it where the drive shaft comes out of it to the rear end...

lol im sorry to laugh but thats the transfercase, its seperate. thats what puts your truck in 4wd hi/lo. you dont need to do anything to it at this point in time, but checking your level in it would be a great idea since your looking at it. make sure its full and clean looking.
