Strange Trans Slip
New to this forum, but tia for any help you can offer.
Truck is a 94 F150 4x4, 302, Trans E4OD
Trans seems to work fine until it's on the highway. We moved down to FL from IN a few mos ago. Up until that time it was fine but on the trip down it began slipping intermittently. Since then the problem went away until yesterday but none of the driving locally exceeds 50mph. Yesterday we jumped on 75 and set the cruise at 70mph. From here to Bass Pro, about 20mins, it worked perfectly. On the way back the cruise quit working and shortly after that the engine started reving like it was out of gear. I slowed down to 45 and then gently stepped back on the pedal and it worked fine again. Still no cruise. Now today it did it again. I figured the clutches where shot, but a quick fluid check... no burnt smell, so I took it out and romped on it good but could not make it slip again. Any ideas???? I know the 88' Lin Mark VII had a small plastic piece on the kickdown that could cause similar symtoms when it was out of adjustment, does this trans have something similar?
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Michael
