electronic to automatic

I am converting my truck to 2wd and need a 2wd transmission due to the output shaft being shorter.

Does anyone know if it is possible to switch the Electronic 4 speed overdive (E4OD) to an older automatic overdrive (AOD)

Its a '91 f-150 5.0

Not sure about your 91 but in my 03 I went from 4X4 to 4X2 and used the same tranny. Removed the tail housing and had a shorter tail shaft put in.

About how much was it to have the tail shaft changed? I know that it can be done on that trans but is it worth it and will the electronic tranny hold 400 horse?

There are plenty of 2WD E4ODs out there, and it would be cheaper to swap the whole thing than to get yours rebuilt & converted. But if you get yours rebuilt, you'll KNOW what condition it's in, and you'll have a warranty. Considering all the upgrades that are currently available for E4ODs, it might be worth the cost of rebuilding.

Yea thats the thing i can get one from a junkyard but the transmission might be the reason that it got there. Also does anyone know about the stall speeds for torque converters? I plan on doing some drag racing?

If the truck is smashed, you can be reasonably confident that the trans is OK.
