Searched this forum and '04 and up forum and can't seem to find the answer i'm looking for to a couple of questions I have 1) has anyone had trouble finding a tranny filter and gasket at your local parts store? and 2)where can I get one for my 4R75E transmission? No one locally even lists a part, and going online is little confusing since the only filters I'm finding are for 4R75W transmissions!! Please help

 

what motor and engine code?

just making sure, but it is definitely NOT a 4R70E, correct?

 

It's a 5.4l, not sure what engine code but transmission code is "B" which is the 4R75E.

 

They use the same filter as the 4r70w. It's almost the same transmission.

Curios though, why the different trans #, and why can't ANY parts store, locally or online, come up w/ a part# for that paticular transmission? I've looked everywhere and no one can come up w/ a part for my truck or transmission.

 

I had no problem getting my filter for the same tranny from my local dealer. I could look at my invoice and get you a part number when I get a chance if you would like.

 

How much was the part maverick? And was it a kit including a gasket and seal for the filter?

 

I will have to find the invoice to see the price but the gasket is sold separately but you may be lucky and not need to replace the gasket. I did not replace my pan gasket when I did it at 30,000 miles.

 

Parts stores usually just don't know so they don't offer anything even tho they have it in stock.
There were a few variations and as with 4r70w years make other changes. The biggest change is the introduction of an input speed sensor. They had to change a few parts around in the transmission to do that and they also put a molded rubber intermediate piston in. Rattle clip changed a bit and all the gearsets are hardened. The converters all became fully furnace brazed and they installed a torrington bearing. For some odd reason they also put a smaller lockup piston in all engines except the 5.4 which is told to have the large piston used by the 4r70w variants. There were some valvebody changes as well.

Yes. All 3 of the following transmissions have the exact same transmission filter:

4R70W
4R70E
4R75E

Motorcraft part #: FT105
Ford part #: F6AZ7A098A

That filter is roughly $32 at most dealers. I use Wix at $18. You should reuse the existing rubber gasket.

I have the 4R70E transmission. The Wix filter referenced above is the one I have used.

DO NOT replace the pan gasket if you get a kit that comes with it.

The stock piece is the best thing you will ever find and was meant to be completely reusable.

Does anyone know if these part numbers are still good for the 4R75E tranny filter? I've been doing research and coming up with different part numbers everywhere I go. So the same filter off the 4R70 will be the same?

 

The filters are the same between the 4R7x series transmission since the improved pan came out in 96.
