Dirty Magnet after ~1500 Miles?

Had to pull the pan tonight to fix a seeping drain plug. (Blue RTV ought to fix it this time!) After only ~1500 miles (maybe less), the magnet already had a fuzzy coat. Is this normal?

Yes.

As long as it was just a light coating. That is the normal stuff from breaking in new clutches

Thanks for the reply, Darrin.

The truck has 211K+ on it, so the clutches are far from new. I'm probably being paranoid, as this was just a surface coating. The last time I pulled the pan to do a filter change, separator plate install, etc, it looked like one big mass. Hard to say how long it had been since it had been cleaned off at that point.

Thanks again.

Any other input is welcome.
