4x4 noy working
hey everyone... i have a 2005 F150 4x4 and recently by 4 wheel drive has stopped working. The 4 high and 4 low lights come up when i start up the truck but when i'm trying to use either they will not show up and the relay doesn't even click over. anyone have any ideas?
i have also read on a few forums that it way be caused by the vacuum line being damaged or broken. Anyone know where these are located so i am able to check it/them?
Thanks,
AJ

I am having troubles with my 4x4 as well
Hi
I hope i am posting in the proper area. I am new to the site. I have a 1998 F150 Lariet. I select 4x4 high and the light in the dash illuminates but the front end does not engage. After reading some dialogue on this site I checked the vaccum solenoids and can detect that they are functioning as they should. Not sure if vaccum is sufficient to draw in the shift fork or not. I can feel the vaccum when I place my finger over the hose. I can not manually move the shift fork in either direction. Could anyone have any insight. Could it be the fork is broken inside the differential and jammed up.

My wife's 03 F150 wil engage in 4HI but will not engage 4LO. The relays are working because the lights dim a little when switching into and out of 2HI, 4HI and 4LO. Would this be a vacuum problem as well? She does not use 4WD very much at all and was surprised she opted for it. Guess she wants to be like me. I drive an F250 Diesel with a 4WD shifter on the floor.

Just went out to try it again. When I am in Neutral, the brake is applied, I switch it to 4HI. The light comes on and click, it is engaged. I then switch to 4LO and click, click, click until I put it in gear, but the Low Range light is not lit, which I assume means it is not in 4LO. Any other thoughts?

Is it just that the light is not working, or is it truly not in 4lo? Easy to tell as the engine will be screaming at about 25mph.
Also, is it working for sure in 4hi?
If it is working in 4hi, then that probably narrows it down to 2 things. The TC itself (I include the shift motor in that, or the neutral switch (or whatever it is called). If it does not know it is in neutral, it will not shift.
