Hard 1-2 shift in 99 4r70w- NOT 1-2 accumulator spring

I repeat!! This is NOT caused by a 1-2 accumulator piston or spring. I replaced both with no change.

OK, so I have had my 99 5.4 for 2 years and since day one it has shifted hard into second at low throttle opening. It doesn't do it when it shifts above say, 2500. Does anyone have any ideas of what else it could be? I wonder if the computer could be flashed and if that might help. Anyone??

I get no OD light flashing and no codes, of course.

My 97 has done this forever. Once it warms up, it doesn't do it as much. If someone can solve this, I would be appreciative as well. I'm currently at 221K. 5.4L with E4OD.......

There sure seems to be alot of people with this problem, mine does it too. Did a complete flush and filter change, we'll see how it is when it gets worked in.

Mine has done the samething since i bought the truck. I just let it go now. I've plowed with it for two years pull a trailor with mowers and lawn equipment everyday in the summer heat and the truck still drives fine. Also it has over 100K too. SOmetimes at low speeds like u were saying it feels like the trans is gonna drop out from underneath me. But hell its built ford tough so I dont worry to much.
