I have a 97 f350 with the powerstroke, it has 185,000 on it. The truck still runs strong and starts great. The problem I am haveing is that it jumps in and out of OD no matter which way I have the switch on or off.. Is their any kind of shift module I can change fairly easily to try as a fix first?

Try changing the MLPS, sometimes called the TRS. It's the sensor on the driver's side of the trans where the shifter cable attaches.

 

MLPS could be at fault.

Does it downshift into second when OD is locked out?
