auto tranny indicator problem

auto tranny indicator problem

the orange indicator on the dash is off by a letter(d in the 2 position) any one had this problem?

There is an adjustment wheel that you can turn to fix the problem. Remove the steering column cover. That is the gray plastic cover that has the black rubber that goes around the steering column. Not the black 2 piece on the column. It snaps out. You will see the star wheel if you look up under where the tranny indicator is. Place the Lever in Drive. The best way is to shift into first and pop up 2 places to drive. You need to weigh the shift lever down, tie an 8 lbs weight to the lever so it doesn't move. Now turn the star wheel and center it on the D. Done. Remove the weight and replace the cover.

ok so i looked under my dash and theres no thumb wheel. the book says theres a thumb wheel on the 250hd and up but not my 150. it doesnt say how to move the indicator for my truck. any sugestions?

Follow the cable that moves the orange indicator and you will find the thumb wheel.
