So Im going to order an Autometer Pro-Comp mechanical gauge and the temperature manifold....will I have everything I need to install the gauge after I purchase these? What size are my cooler lines...3/8" or 5/16" outside diameter? Any help or tips will be appreciated in the installation.

Please post pictures of where everyone has mounted their tranny temp gauges.

Thanks.

Cool

HI!... I believe it was 5/16. Just in case get a 3/8 and 5/16 open end wrench and slide them over the tranny line. Tighter one fits! LOL!

You'll have to get a temp probe extension as well.

Thanks for all the help. Why do you need the temp probe extension and which one do I need 3/8" or 1/2" ? How did you determine where to cut your lines and did you drain them before cutting? Does my tubing hook into the T temp manifold? Sorry for all the questions, but this is my daily driver and the parts stores suck around here! I don't want to get stranded for a couple days. Thanks.

I installed just off the trans in a horizontal section of line.
It is within sight of a cat so extended the shield about 6" to keep the cat from influening the block temp.
The aux cooler is mounted passenger side front of the A/C condenser spaced away on brackets and have a thermstat controlled 8" fan covering the cooler.
The thermostat is surface mounted on the inlet line to the radiator cooler and set to come on at 180 to 190°. This does two functions, trips on when towing only and cools the engine bay faster at shutdown, lasting about 5 to 7 minutes.

Cool

HI!... My temp manifold is mounted directly under the rad cross member in the horizontal tranny line. The capillary tubing will just reach inside the truck's "A" pillar if you route the line next to the steering shaft and through the rubber grommet next to the brake booster on the firewall.

Thanks for all you help. Next paycheck Im going to order a temp gauge and bigger cooler. Then I will have my fluid and filter changed at 60,000 miles. Hopefully this stuff will help my transmission last longer.

If anyone has pictures of where they mounted their temp gauges...please post them. Thanks.

That looks awesome! Thats whats going in my Mustang when its done. Do you have a write up about what all you have done to your truck? I was thinking about cutting a hole below my vent (the vent between the guage cluster and the radio) and installing the gauge there. I dont think I can use an a-pillar mount due to my edge programmer being in the way. Thanks.

Cool

HI!... Well I removed the P/S vent to the steering wheel to make room for my INNOVATE MOTORSPORTS WIDEBAND A/F ratio gauge :

Or you could do something custom like this to add a few more gauges :
