Has anyone had the chrome looking cap come off the top of the automatic transmission floor shifter? Mine has, without it the shifter will not shift. I currently have the plastic piece taped into place. Is there a fix for this problem? Is this a dealership item only? Need some help on finding a permant fix that look right. Is there an aftermarket shifter (shifter ****) that will work on our trucks?

 

Yep, happened to mine last week. It is a warranty item and the repair ticket said $257 I believe for the part. FYI Ford did come out with a new "updated" shifter and it does feel a little more hefty plus the release button works much nicer. If you're still under warranty take it in.

 

Nope, not in warranty. Just turned 89K this morning. It's my work truck and I travel a lot for my company. Figured it was a typical expensive dealer item. I'll bite the bullet and get it done once I get off this current assignment, doing night right now. Thanks for the info. Dave
