Question temp sender location from pcm

Can anyone tell me where the pcm reads the tranny temp?

I have the autotap scan tool and monitor my tranny temps with it while towing, but I don't know where it is reading from to know if I am hot or not. The guys at autotap told me it reads the temp from the pcm, but couldn't tell me anymore than that.

How is the readout displayed?
As degrees or as a number scale?
The TFT in the trans is used by the PCM to do some limited control functions and set a DTC code and blink the OD light if the temp goes out of limits.
Out of the test port the scanner looks at the processed results and not the sensor it'self.

The scan tool just reads what the PCM has read.

The TFT is inside the transmission.

It is given as degrees. If it is inside the trans then what kind of temps are good for that spot?

The continuous maximum is 220°F, and short term, like under 1/2 hour, is 250°F.

I am seeing like a continuous temp of 180 or so. Hardly ever abov 185.
