1995 F-150 XLT 5.0 L - Transmission control indicator light began flashing at or about the same time the cruise control quit. Is there something common between these two systems, i.e. electronic component/control device?

The VSS sensor happens to be in common.

However, since you have a flashing TCIL, you will also have one or more codes stored. You can use a paperclip to pull them on a 95 and older.

Once you have the code(s), you can more accurately direct your troubleshooting efforts.

Read up and preform the self test. Once you get the codes we can help.

Code indicated "open VSS." VSS was replaced - no joy. After closer observation I noticed that the problem is intermittent. When the TCIL is not flashing the cruise works as advertised. The cruise quits with the first flash of the light. Transmission working fine but would like to have the cruise control back and need the "warning" light in case other transmission problems occur.

There's a good chance you have a problem with a wire between the PCM and the VSS. It's intermittently open.

It's been at the local Ford for the last two weeks. As of this morning they had not found/fixed the probelm.
