Trans shift

I have a 1991 E4OD behind a 4.6 inline six. The trans will go out of gear going down the road and come back in intermittently. It also shifts hard. Any info appreciated.

Update/ replace the mlps...aka neutral safety switch. You will have to repin, but it's not that hard take your time and follow the directions. Do it one wire at a time.
