Torque Converter???

I was wondering if anyone might have any knowledge to my dilema. I have a 1998 F150 Reg Cab and when it is changing gears or even when it it cruising, at times I hear a humming noise. At first I thought it was a pulley going out on my fan belt but the noise is comming form under the truck between the engine and tranny. The engine runs great and the tranny gears change fine, it is just the humming, more like a buzzing sound. I figure since the torque converter falls in between and the noise seems to come from the middle of the eng and tranny I find that to be the problem. Before I send it to the shop I wanted to know if anyone has gone thru this and if they have any advice. You responses would be greatly appreciated.

Is the humming noticed at a specific RPM range, a Specific groundspeed, or are tehre any other variables to which the humming noise can be associated.
