Fluid change
Plan on chanign trans fluid on the Expy. I have been reading up and apparently there is a drain plug on the torque converter???
Also, I've gotten that I should keep the old gasket.
About how many exact qaurts would it take to fill the trans up? And what brand do you guys recommend for fluid?

On 1997-2001, the TC has a drain plug. On 2002 and newer, Ford discontinued the drain plug. The gasket on the tranny pan is reusable; you'll never have to change it. When I drop my pan and drain my TC, I can get 12 quarts out. I use Motorcraft fluid, but many people use synthetic instead (such as Amsoil, Redline, etc.). Either fluid will be fine. However, you MUST use a Mercon V rated tranny fluid. If the bottle doesn't say Mercon V on it, DO NOT put in in the tranny.

According to Ford's published fluid schedule (10/04):
4R70 through 97 - Mercon/Dextron III
4R70 98 & up - Mercon V
4R100 & E40D - All years - use Mercon/Dextron III.
It is important to identify which transmission you have. See the door sticker or identify by pan bolt pattern.
Transmissions that have been rebuild may have used frictions that require a different fluid than originally specced. Keep an eye out for this.
Read your dipstick. It tells what the correct fluid was at time of manufacture.
If Ford has published a TSB or updated recommendation, point me toward it.

It looks like the 4R100 will have to use MERCON V pretty soon:

I can find no mention of any TSB from Ford that would have addressed this. If one actually exists, please provide the reference.
I have no doubt that Ford will (or has) "officially" change(d) the spec, but I'm curious if they have published the change.
