Is the Dextron 3 fluid acceptable for the 4R70W? Also any good additives to put in, Lucas, etc??

 

No. Dexron III is the same as plain Mercon to be used in the E4OD and 4R100. Those two trannys can not have friction modifiers in the fluid like the 4R70w needs. Mercon V has the friction modifiers to make the 4R70w happy so use that and shy away from additives.
