1999 4R70W - Drain Plug on Torque Convertor?

I was just curious if the 4R70W in my 99 F-150 (4.6L) would have a plug on the torque convertor?

I am asking as I can get the pan removed, cleaned out, new gasket, new filter and refilled for under $60 at a local shop. He said if the convertor has a plug them they will drain that too.

Sounds like a good deal to me as it is going to cost me around $30-$35 for the fluid and filter alone.

Should, but I don't have experience with a 4R70w. '02 was when ford stopped using a drian plugs in all the trannys.

You should see it with that round plastic cover removed. Just rotate the engine by hand or use a hand held starter and lightly hit the botton on the ground so it rotates slow. Hit like your doing S.O.S or a telegram. Also important is not to overtighten, just a little snug, that's all.

Total with all the extra Mercon V needed since the torque convertor was drained, tax, shop fees, etc.... came to 81.11 out the door. It took just under 12 quarts so they pretty much completely emptied it out. Tranny Fluid looks beautiful now - Red and Clear.

My 1999 F150 has a torque converter bolt on it. I just removed the round rubber bell housing torque converter bolt window cover thingy (dang, that should be a song I think) and turned the converter by hand with a screwdriver (there are some gear teeth inside the hole on mine) until I saw the bolt.

It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka-dot bikini.
