Fluid *pouring* out

I love my '93 f150, it's been a great workhorse. After taking a load to the dump the other day, the tranny started to jerk. I pulled into an auto parts store I happened to be passing and investigated... turns out transmission fluid was literally pouring out all over the concrete! I got underneath to determine where the leak was coming from and it looks like it is coming out of a machined hole in the front of the tranny. Now, before this I have never had any transmission problems problems at all.

Does anyone know what would cause this? Is it something I can seal myself? I really can't afford to replace the transmission...

I appreciate any help!

Sounds like the front pump seal has blown out. You'll have to remove the transmission to replace it; I'd recommend inspecting the torque converter hub closely for any burrs or nicks, and replacing the torque converter bushing in the front pump while you've got it apart.
