Howdy and welcome.
Automatic? Won't shift out of park? Brake lights good?
Prolly have a blown fuse for the brake lights or the brake light swich on the pedal is bad and without those the interlock won't release park. I run handshaker trannys, so I'm not real familiar with the procedure, but I believe there is a writeup on how to release it manually in your owners manual.

ok i tried!
i tried to check the brake lights they operate fine, i dont have a owners manuel i bought the truck used! does anyone know how to bypass the shifting lockout, i crawled under the dash and while playing with the end of the shifter rod i was able to get it to shift 1 time only but i cant do that while its running or i could kill someone!
With the key off, turn it one detent towards on. This isn't far enough to turn on anything electrical. Put your foot on the brake. Now move the shifter to neutral.
Now start the truck and you're set until the next time you put it in park.
