overdrive problem

overdrive problem

Hello there.
i had just recentley bought my truck (1998 f150 4.6l 4x4 off road) and the overdrive will not activate . i did check the fuse and nothing. any body else have this problem and a possible solution? when i push the button nothing happens at all. i dont evan get a light. but the truck continues to run fine.

any advice would be great

Same exact thing has happened to my trucks. It's been this way for over 6 months now and since it doesn't really affect anything and its not noticible, i never got around to investigating.

(1999 F150 V6 4.2L 4x4)

yea ive gone quite some time without it and actually forgot about it but im getting a trailer and it would be nice to have.

Often the wire to the OD button breaks where the steering column tilts. Remove the plastic coer from the steering column and you should find the broken wire there.

Yes, it is. If it's really bad a new shifter is only about $50.
