Tranny slip

Ok guys, i have a 95 F150 (112k miles), and I was driving up hill today at about 35 mph when the transmission began to slip . I believe it began when it shifted into third gear. The fluid level is correct, and it does not smell burnt. My father suggested that the bands may need tighted? If so, how does one go about doing this? It doesn't do it all the time, and it began with no warning.

Thanks,
Mike

There are no bands that you can tighten anymore.

When was the last flush?

The E4OD is trans code E on the door jam sticker and requires Mercon. The 4R70w is code U and requires Mercon V.

Well its never been flushed, my father owned it for all its life, I just aquired it last year with 107K on it. I was planning on doing a fluid change, and i even have the filter and gasket. I belive its the E40D tranny.

Ok, i change the filter today. Barely made it out of my driveway (uphill slightly) going to my dads garage to do the job. Slipped the whole way there. After I put the filter in and refilled her with new Mercon, she drove absolutly perfect, drove her about 30 miles, up and down many a hills I hope its the fix, and not just one of the random times it works properly
