Exclamation looking to supercharge

I have a 2002 F150 4.6l with a 5 spd. I am looking to supercharge it but i am afraid that my trany will not hold up. Is there anything that i can do to beef it up so it can handle the power or do i need a different tranny

Just my 2 cents, but I would feel more comfortable with the manual a little over worked than the auto.......biggest problem would be clutches.

You should get into the correct perspective about what you are wanting to do.
Of course there is added wear on all parts of the drive train that you have to accept.
Going to extra expense to add a shift kit should prolong the trans life.
You will go thru tires and brakes faster.
Have to get in that acceptance mode that when you play you also pay....more in the long run, just like a race car.

It all depends on how you drive it. I added the blower on my wifes nav, and she still drives it just like she did before. The gas costs are the same, and the driveline isn't taking anymore abuse than it was before with her behind the wheel. Now, when I get to drive it, its driven like I built it to be driven, hard and fast!

While the M5OD is a lot tougher than the 4R70w auto, it's still a "light duty" tranny. Still I would feel better with a blower on the heavy duty ZF5 manual (but it's not a speed shifter) or the 4R100 auto.

Your prolly gonna go through clutches and rear ends before the tranny goes.
