1997 Expedition 4X4 - Not

I recently tried shifting into 4 hi while idling. When I take the switch to any position, nothing happens. I checked the fuse under the hood and it was OK. I have not had any trouble in the past. Any ideas.

Thanks!

I don't have the ESOF in the 97 F150, (this is why I like manual xfer cases by the way...), but I do believe there is more than one fuse.

Howdy and welcome to the forums as well!

If no light lights up on the dash, and the fuse is good it will probably be the shift motor. Does the dash "click" when the switch is turned? There is also a relay in the dash between the radio and the instrument cluster. Let us know what you find out!!!

No lights come on and there is no clicking noise like before. I didn't know if there was a fuse in the fuse box under the dash or not. The one I checked was under the hood. There have been a couple of times that my 2 year old has turned the switch to the 4X4 Low position while the truck was off, and I have started the truck and driven a short bit before realizing it. I am sure this is not good on it but didn't know if that could have caused the problem. Thanks for the quick responses.
