Gear change?

I have a 2000 Expy with 3.31 gears was wifes daily driver, she got a new vehicle and I am keeping this one with an allowance of fixing it up some. I am adding an airaid and magnaflow and excal2 from Troyer, my question is going gear like a 3.73 0r a 4.10(running 265 x70x16 Mich LTX) going to do anything for me positive or negative?

After doing some searching it looks like 4.10 is the way to go.

How are you going to use the Expy? Towing, daily driver, etc...

what size engine do you have?

If you go with the 4.10's you'll like them when towing and depending on the size of your engine you may or may not like them when at the gas pump. Depending on your driving habits, a smaller engine's mpg may actually gain some improvement as the engine won't have to work as hard to accelerate. If you the maximum you're going to tow is 2,500 lbs and you have a V8 then I'd stay with the stock gear ratio and save on the gas, especially with the prices where they are....

you'll get better gas mileage and higher tip speed with 3.73

4.10 way too low
