lost first gear

Question lost first gear

i bought a 2000 f-150 and about two months later i tried to put it in drive and did so but the truck just revved up then bang it went into gear i know i have a tranny problem but what is the problem nobody wants to tell me and they just want to rebuild it or replace it got some advice for me or can some one give me a helpful hint

That sounds to me that it is the torque converter. I also have 2000 f-150 v-6 and haven't had any problems with it.

Unhappy thanks general

thanks for your input but mine is a v8 and once it goes in gear it shifts fine , it shows no codes and no check engine light or or flashing o/d light i'am just baffled

have you checked the fluid level lately?

i checked the level it was fine but i noticed it was a little discolored so i took it to my buddy at eagle to have it flushed to see if it would make a difference and it did not also i added some lucas tranny fix and still nothing i'am lost

u-joints?

My Dodge Ram did that, ended up needing new u-joints. My uncle had water in his rear diffriential in his Suburban and it cause similar symptoms till we rebuilt it. just my 2 cents.........good luck

had the rear end fluid changed at 95 thousand k only 105k on it now also checked u joints at the same time no problems thanks anyway
