4R70W - preventitive maintenance....

So, I wanted to do some maintenance stuff to my truck. I have only had it less than a month (at 40,xxx miles now), but I want to make sure everything is good to go, etc.... help me get to know the truck better too.

My main question would be about the tranny.
I know shiftkits are supposed to (well depending on how they are done) help the longevity of the transmission. I believe the Factory Tech kit is one of these.
Now I don't want it spinning/slipping the tires when shifting into 2nd (I doubt it could do it going into 3rd) since there's ice and snow a good portion of the year, but I do want to help the tranny by letting it shift quicker etc...

Also, would my 01' come from Ford using Mercon V? If not, should I switch?

Oh yea, if I am at WOT, when it shifts I here a "hiss" or "howl", sort of like a quite blow off valve. This something I should be concerned about? It shifts fine, just not sure what the noise is.

Just like any 4r70w you want to service it every 35k at least. There likely will not be a drain plug in that converter so you will either have to install one or use a different method to drain the converter. The hiss souns is probably belt slippage on shift. Get a goodyear gatorback. That truck came factory with mercon V.
