Gears!!
Gears!!
Hello All,
I am looking for some good gears to put into my truck
(2002 F150 XLT V6 2wd). I have heard a few brands to look at. Does anyone have any recommendations. I have been told Yukon and Richmond gears are good. I am going to be putting on 35" tires with a gear ration of 4:56! Does this sound about right?
Also since the rear end will be apart i was think of putting in a lim slip diff. I have hear Auburn is the way to go. any other good ones?
Any help you guys can give it would be greatly appriciated.

I have Yukon gears and I like them. They are louder than my old stock Ford gears but Ford did not have 4.10 gears for the Expedition.

you'll have calculators to help determine the right gear ratio. Also, the experts here can help - they were very helpful with my gear selection.
Good luck
Jeff

i have had genuin gears in a few of my vehicles and they have all been great, have had 4.88 in my 03 for about 2 years now self installed, 30,000 miles on the gears just changed the gear oil about 1000 miles ago and no wear to speak of, i would recomend genuin gear to anybody, good luck, and yes 4.56 will put you within 100 rpm of stock with 35" tires
If they are installed correctly and set up right, then just about any company's gears should be fine. I've had good luck with Ford Racing's gearsets when I had my Mustang. The key to good gear life is good installation.
