Question accumulator spring 2-1 downshift question

I have ready many of the posts here in this forum regarding the rough 1-2 upshift being corrected by replacing the 1-2 accumulator and springs. Will this fix also correct a rough 2-1 downshift? I have a 1999 F150 4x4 off road with 5.4L and 'U' trans code (4r70) trans. The truck has upshifted roughly since I bought it with 68K miles. Just recently the truck has started blinking the OD light and downshifting roughtly from 2 to 1. Will the 2-1 downshift clunk be cured by replacing the accumulator and springs? Thanks!

From: Georgia on my mind...
The accumulators are only used to soften the upshift, they aren't really doing anything during downshifts. The 1-2 accumulator absorbs pressure from the intermediate clutch, and the 2-3 accumulator from the direct clutch. I'd tote it down to Otterzone and get your free code scan, since if the O/D light is flashing, there's a code in there for something. Maybe then we can get a general direction of what to look at.
