Help with fluid/filter change

I have a 2002 SCrew with 38K miles. I am trying to change fluid/filter using the method posted on here many times, but I am having difficulty figuring out which of the two metal cooler lines to disconnect to pump out the fluid through. There appears to be two lines coming from the cooler. On my tranny, one is on top and the other below. Which one do I disconnect and hook up the clear tubing to? Second, is there a trick you use to actually get to these lines? The space is very tight and I'm not sure I can get my hand or a wrench up there. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am about to give up and take it to Goodyear for the service.

Thanks

OK. After a few calls to the dealer's service dept. I got it figured out. Took me about 3 hrs. to complete. Filled with Hydrotex HyTorque Z fluid and a Wix filter.

Question for you.
Is the fluid you used for the transmission the right spec for it.

I 'assume' you have an 4r70w that takes Mercon V spec fluid and no other type.

I do have the 4r70w. The technical people at Hydrotex tell me that their products meet or exceed the factory spec (Mercon V). They tell me I should be able to get 75K miles on the fluid, possibly more if do oil analysis to check the fluid's condition. Their products are based on a hydro-synthetic base stock. I have been using their engine oil for about 1-1/2 years. I changed the oil after 1 year (about 12K miles). I have a friend who is one of their local sales reps. After driving for a couple of days, I can tell a big difference, the shifting is much smoother now.

Sorry, this was not meant to sound like a commercial for Hydrotex.

Hydrotex is a company that makes lubricants for a number of applications and industries using an advanced hydrosynthetic base stock. See their website for more info: www.hydrotexlube.com
