Major Noises In 194,000 Trans

About a month ago I went around a car and hit afew bumps on the side of the road, from that point, during 1st and 2nd gear (auto trans), it sounded like a metal card in the spokes of your old bicycle, it eventually got worse then went away. With no money to pay the transmission guy for a replacement, I went on hoping it was over, then the O/D light began to blink on the column shift, that stopped, and I thought well, so far so good, but now it's making noises again. I drive 72 miles per day in the truck and it's mostly highway speeds. Had to turn off the O/D yesterday because of a odd feel and noise at speed. This morning during normal take-off from a slight hill, it felt as if someone hit me from behind, but no one was there. I feel fortunate the trany has lasted this long, but dont have $1200 for a trany replacement or even $350 for a used one. I am hoping there can be a cheap fix for this, but I want the truth. Can anybody give me any clues as to what is going on and what a fix might be?
