97 4R70W same as 98, 99, 00????

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the 1997 4R70W transmission and the newer ones such as 1998, 1999, 2000, etc? I know a lot of times there aren't any changes from one model year to the next so if I was to replace a 1997 transmission, a transmission from any F150 from 1997-2000 (for example) would bolt right up. Are there any internal differences?
Thanks,
Kurt

97 is completely different. For one the 97 has a roller intermediate clutch that is prone to failure. Also the 97 has wires inside the pan where all 98 up units had a circuit board style harness. Not to mention that the 98's also recieved better clutches inside of them.

On a similar note, If ford put in a factory reman in my 97 (in 2002)would it have the upgraded parts? Or would it just be the same weaker transmission

Sorry 'bout the hijack.............John
